»Much of the best work being produced today seems to fall between media«, Higgins begins his reflections on the intermedial in contemporary art in the first issue of »The Something Else Newsletter« in 1966, which can also be used to characterize what Fluxus activities have in common: Visual poetry, action music, happenings and Fluxus events make conceptual reference to classical genres, but are not interested in conventional boundaries. This also applies to the artistic work of the poet, Fluxus artist and composer Higgins. During Higgins' stay as a fellow of the Berlin Artists' Program in 1982, he created the silkscreen print »Albumblatt«, which was published in an edition of 50. The free form of the composition named in the title of the sheet is translated into a notation without using the conventional means of writing a score. The visual score conveys a musical idea and an image of the composition in the dynamic movement of the red arrows moving across the lined sheet of music, but remains conceivably indeterminate as an instruction for its performance and instrumentation. The print »Albumblatt« was initially planned as a supplement to an LP with a composition by Erik Satie recorded by Higgins and a piece of his own music. The screen print, which is single-folded in parts of the edition, therefore has the format of a record sleeve.
